For starters, Johnny Depp was the perfect choice to play John Dillinger. You could feel the wiseguy vibe pulsing off of Depp as if he were actually Public Enemy #1 himself. And that crooked smile of his! Oh, it just made me want to melt
Marion Cotillard was brilliant at portraying Dillinger's main girl, Billie Frechette. She captured a certain innocence that abided in Frechette: just a French-Menominee girl from Wisconsin who's had a ho-hum life, making it understandable for her to fall head over heels for a guy like Dillinger.
Ah, Christian Bale...in the hero spot again, eh? Well, you're doing a fan-bloody-tastic job at it, so don't think that this is saying, " *sigh* He's always a frickin' hero...CHANGE IT UP!" Bale seemed to really nab the feeling that he wanted redemption after failed attempts of getting Dillinger his just desserts...Damn you, JAY EDGAH HOOVAH! You just can't rely on ONE MAN; you need a TEAM.
All in all, this was a very good film with a fantastic ensemble of actors. The filmography was great and the soundtrack was superb.
Overall Grade: 99.9%
In other words: GO SEE IT!!!!
