Bye-bye, blackbird.

Tue Jul 7, 2009, 6:31 AM
Soooooo, I finally saw "Public Enemies" after returning from France and partaking in the independence day practices over the weekend. Let me tell you, it was well worth the wait!

For starters, Johnny Depp was the perfect choice to play John Dillinger. You could feel the wiseguy vibe pulsing off of Depp as if he were actually Public Enemy #1 himself. And that crooked smile of his! Oh, it just made me want to melt :meow: I can understand now why Billie Frechette fell for him. Depp's performance was nothing short of perfect.

Marion Cotillard was brilliant at portraying Dillinger's main girl, Billie Frechette. She captured a certain innocence that abided in Frechette: just a French-Menominee girl from Wisconsin who's had a ho-hum life, making it understandable for her to fall head over heels for a guy like Dillinger.

Ah, Christian Bale...in the hero spot again, eh? Well, you're doing a fan-bloody-tastic job at it, so don't think that this is saying, " *sigh* He's always a frickin' hero...CHANGE IT UP!" Bale seemed to really nab the feeling that he wanted redemption after failed attempts of getting Dillinger his just desserts...Damn you, JAY EDGAH HOOVAH! You just can't rely on ONE MAN; you need a TEAM.

All in all, this was a very good film with a fantastic ensemble of actors. The filmography was great and the soundtrack was superb.

Overall Grade: 99.9%
In other words: GO SEE IT!!!!

  • Mood: Zeal

  • Watching: PUBLIC ENEMIES!!!!

I saw it when it came out last week. I loved the whole thing. I loved everything about it. The cast was perfect. Johnny did an outstanding job on Dillinger. He acted as if he was John Dillinger. If he dont win an Oscar for that movie, Im gonna really upset.

Yeah, we'd better see some Oscarage for this. If there's not, I'm on that upset boat with ya.
At least the state of Wisconsin got some representation in this movie :D (Johnny says that WI was really, genuinely nice to him :))

LOL! I just wish that Johnny would win an Oscar for best actor. I mean come on, he hasnt even won 1 single award from them. I think its fixed though. Cuz when I was watching the Oscars that one time with Borat being nominated. Borat won and not Pirates! OMG! I was appalled.

It would be nice to see J.D. finally win an Oscar, but I honestly think Johnny's in the biz just for the pure love of the craft that is filmmaking. I think he's just glad to be even nominated.
But still...Borat over Pirates? That's just silly!
